When Jesus asked the man in John 5 do you want to be *made* well - TopicsExpress

When Jesus asked the man in John 5 do you want to be *made* well he was stating that we have to put some skin in the game of wellness. Part of that journey is learning to be thankful and being thankful takes work. We live in a culture of entitlement that is never satisfied and always grasping, clawing, knocking down others to get more and more and more. Stand still right where you are. Look around. Breathe in and out. Today, even with its disappointments from yesterday, is a day that we are alive and have the potential to meet and experience the grace and mercy brimming through all creation and in the embrace of others. We are not as alone as we feel nor is all hope lost. But it will take effort to not only remember this but to practice being thankful. Try this: take a Post-It note and write 3 things you are thankful for TODAY. Stick it to your computer screen, mirror, your front door, where ever you can see it. Being thankful might take work but the alternatives - despair, hopelessness, envy, greed, shame - are nothing more than a sickness unto death. Do you want to be made well? Start the journey with thankfulness and see where that takes you.
