When Jim Heemstra, photographer, and Carole Gieseke, writer/editor, set out on a two-year journey across the United States to make portraits of Iowa State University alumni in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, they had no idea how emotionally tied they would become to those alumni – and how deeply they would be changed by the experience. The VISIONS Across America portrait exhibition, which ends Aug. 9 at the Brunnier Art Museum, is a result of that journey.
