When Jimmy Holbrook preached Jasons funeral, he told us to find - TopicsExpress

When Jimmy Holbrook preached Jasons funeral, he told us to find comfort in music. Today I heard several songs both at church and on the radio that spoke to my heart. Ive been going to the 8:30 service that sings more traditional hymns, and today we sang How Great Thou Art which made me think of Bro. Delbert Akin who could sing that song better than anyone Ive ever heard. Delbert is very ill right now, and I know his family is hurting, but that song will remind them that Delbert has been living in his temporary home and will soon be entering that place that Jesus has prepared. On the way home I heard Pushing Back the Dark and I thought of all the teachers and coaches who are believers and are working daily to push back the dark in this world. On my way home from putting out new flowers at the cemetery, I heard There Will be a Day. Six years ago today was the most horrible day of my life. At 3:00 am I learned that Jason had not survived the roll-over accident. I wasnt certain I would survive his death, but I did. Six years have passed, and Im still here, still missing him, but still worshiping, and still having some days that breathing in and breathing out are my only accomplishments. I dont expect to ever quit missing him, but I am thankful that the intense pain I felt on that Sunday six years ago has lessened and that I have Gods word and music to remind me of the big picture.
