When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race an F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, (and) Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam, Roger Federer was a name unheard of, Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters, Cristiano Ronaldo was a 4 year old kid, The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country. Not many sportsman walk onto the pitch with a fan following of over 1 billion people watching him on TV, At the stadium, Listening to the radio. We have been very lucky to watch the little master, Wed do anything to watch Don Bradman play . In 100 years time people will say the same about Sachin Tendulkar and how lucky were those who got to watch him. We have been privileged to witness this Gentlemans game, He gave his 24 years to cricket, Only Cricketer after Javed Miandad to appear in 6 World Cups, Leading run scorer in the game of cricket, Only person on planet to score 100 centuries in International Cricket and A LOT more. Words are just not enough to describe your contribution to the beautiful game. RESPECT FOR YOU SIR!!! One certainly does not have to be an Indian to acknowledge your services to the game, or for the fact that you have entertained us with your batting for 24 years. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar announces his retirement from international cricket. An era ends. It will NEVER be the same without him. CRICKET will always miss you. One can and would disagree with me but watching Sachin playing Cricket has always been a fantasy and i am proud of being alive in Sachin Tendulkars Era. The Greatest Batsman I have ever seen!
