When The Lord awakened me this morning, I was experiencing - TopicsExpress

When The Lord awakened me this morning, I was experiencing excruciating pain in my left eye. I tried bearing through it, but after being at an appointment for 20 minutes, my pain moved me to call an ophthalmologist for a 911 appointment. Needless to say, Im glad I did because my left eye has ulcers. When I picked up my prescription, the total for the eyedrops, a SMALL container, was $55.61 (with medical insurance), and I paid it without a thought. I was happy for the healing that would begin to take place in my eye, but I became sadden in my spirit when I thought about the thousands of people who wouldve had to choose between medicine and either paying a utility bill or groceries. The fight for fairness extends beyond police brutality and senseless gun violence, especially in Afro-American communities. There must be an ongoing fight to end poverty, whereby the choice of medicine or rent is no longer a choice. I believe the fight for poverty is key to eliminating the other societal ills we experience. As a side note, police brutality is a societal ill that poverty cant fix. An elected Citizens Police Accountability Board can begin the process. Just my opinion. Nonetheless, Im grateful to God for having the means to pay for the medicine, but I pray and fight for those who dont. God, in Your mercy, give us the strength to fight for equality. Amen.
