When a company goes public, their tendency is to serve the shareholders/bottom line by using everything including the customers and employees as a tool to that end. Non-public companies doing it right, serve the employees who in turn serve the customers well and the bottom line takes care of itself. Facebook, as a public company now serving the shareholder, is getting further and further off base and out of touch with what made the site popular. You now see the news feed getting less space and the ad space growing larger. Business pages dont get any attention unless they pay. They are looking for every nth degree to squeeze better and better profits which the shareholders demand. So, thats where the attention is - getting too commercialized and less why people started enjoying it.
