When asked about our adoption experience often say... Its awesome- dont get me wrong, its not easy. Its hard. But its worth it. In the event of a behavior struggle I ask myself - is this a toddle issue, a newly adopted issue, or a communication issue (due to deafness) and I am getting better at discerning. Just now, we stopped to tee em This is when one needs to go so they all must try and go or we will be stopping every 5 minutes. Lucy did not want to tee even though she needed to...Which resulted in a major tantrum while she screamed bloody murder through the entire process in a Dunkin Donuts bathroom, stomping, kicking, arching her back, clinching her fists so I couldnt put soap on her hands, etc. I was patient and kind with her the entire time, although from outside the door i am sure it did not sound like that. Truly if I was on the other side I know I would have been tempted to judge me. So I open the door to find 4 country men eating donuts from boxes all standing around staring at us and a nice Asian family with two cute toddler girls that looked like they had just left church. Oh the stares.... Yikes. Thankful we are back in the car and enjoying Ratatouille. #pressingon #findingjoyinthejourney Lucy, if you read this years from now and I am not here to apologize for writing this post, just know that I love you and you are worth the fight!
