When corruption and abuse of public office is enthroned, lawlessness and disorder is inevitable. The (democratic) Nigerian government has committed more crimes than all the insurgents (OPC, Niger Delta militants and Boko Haram) combined. Were experiencing the heights and depths of the resultant effects of endemic corruption. Corruption creates fertile grounds for embezzlement of the nations wealth by daylight thieves who call themselves government officials, which invariably renders the populace poor. If you cant afford a meal, will you think of going to school? If youre not educated, how would you not fall for the manifesto of zealots and radicals? Its a simple if case of he who stands for nothing will fall for anything! Are we surprised that the Nigerian Army is unable to take out these terrorists? Theyre not paid! All the funds allocated for security are stashed in the bank accounts of the chiefs! This whole thing is pretty easy to understand; when corruption is king, every bad thing can, and will, happen.
