When customers are unsure, stear them in the right direction- - TopicsExpress

When customers are unsure, stear them in the right direction- Scripture says, “Cursed is he who misleads a blind person on the road.” (Deuteronomy 27:18 NASB) When customers come to us without any knowledge of our products and services, we can look at the situation in one of two ways. Either we seem them as suckers, ripe for the picking, and the sooner we pick the fruit, the faster we can generate a sale; or we see them as someone in need of our help and expertise. Steering a customer into a poor choice may generate a sale today, but in the future we will lose repeat business. How do you feel when you have placed your trust in a vendor, and later discover that trust was misplaced? Certainly, you learn from that experience, and look elsewhere to do business in the future. If a blind person offered you ten dollars to take them to an address, would you lead them to the wrong building? Misleading your customers based on their lack of knowledge is an equal affront. Customers who believe they were misled not only will never come back to your business, but they will also share the story of their dissatisfaction with all their friends, causing your reputation to suffer and costing you potential customers you could, and should, have serviced. Take the time to educate your customers; invest in the relationship. Listen to what they want and need, and then explain how you can meet their need. Guide your customers in the right direction, even if it means sending them to another business. Over time, you will generate and build trust, and trust is what will generate more business for you.
