When doing the Monte build or the El Camino for that matter I - TopicsExpress

When doing the Monte build or the El Camino for that matter I enjoy the hunt for parts and getting over the next hurdle as much as anything. Case in point, the exhaust. No G body came with rack and pinion steering and as far as I know, this one was the first. After trying block hugger, corvette, and Hookers cast iron, I got a set of pacesetters from and f body. Others had used these in LS swaps so I knew the would clear on the passenger and not hit the floors. I reroute two tubes around the steering shaft and sent them to Performance Coatings. The rest of the exhaust is a Jegs universal kit, H pipe kit, and Moroso spiral flow mufflers. Hate to know how many trips I made rolling out from under the car, I have no lift remember. I order a Griffin radiator that was suppose to fit a Gbody, and as Kramar says, It was Waaaaay off. Just happen I gat a call from Schwartz that very day about a lead for a prototype that Dewitts wanted tested. A call later I had a drop in unit for and LS, with fans, relays, and catch can, on its way for SUPER cheap. This has proved to be an awesome unit. The air intake is another area that I came up with. Took forev to find the pieces but finally a call to Spectre put me on track. Hate to know how many times I have been ask how I did this and what parts were used. Speaking of that, I cant tell how many times Im contacted by complete strangers via Facebook, forums, or even phone calls about the Monte. Very cool deal for a guy that just wanted to build his idea of a pro touring car.
