Hon Chikwanda says there is need for foreign commercial banks operating in the Zambia to voluntarily list on the local bourse. “A lot of foreign banks in Zambia have made hefty profits out of Zambia but they are very reluctant to list on the Lusaka Stock Exchange,” Chikwanda said. “We urge them to list for accountability and transparency. We want to make a passionate appeal to the banks.... we are a government which believes in free enterprise and we would not want to be led into the temptation of making listing mandatory by going the statutory route. So we just make the passionate appeal to the banks to list on the Lusaka Stock Exchange.”
