When it comes to 6502 assembly routines to draw sprites on to the screen, etc., do people generally have the code stored in a library which they then insert into their program, or do you have to re-write the code each and every time. How many routines do you have in your library? Ive been toying with the possibility of writing something, anything, having a project to achieve, to write some code for some purpose, rather than just plodding along in life never achieving anything. It would be better if I had some goal to achieve, and maybe the possibility of having some ready to use routines which simply allow me to write games, or whatever, might spur me on to actually get on with it. I cant believe that everyone who has ever needed to draw something on the screen, print a score on the screen, play music, or whatever, had to write their own routine that reinvented the wheel. If they did, who wrote the fastest ever sprite plotting routines. Was it easier to hold a lookup table of screen addresses in RAM, or calculate them for every frame, which would have been slower but less costly in terms of storage? I have so many questions, and find this whole topic rather enthralling.
