When it comes to a home and stylizing a life... I think creating a charming environment with items that mean something to you and make you smile inside compared to just automatically filling your space with things that meet the current trends/temporal fashions...is not only more interesting, it creates a strong indication about the individual who lives inside. Plus I have seen way too many people become lost to themselves (not to mention go broke!) when they start getting into the soul numbing habit of chasing what they perceive to be expectations of others (on every level) rather than just seeking and simply being the best of who they already authentically are. Sure, we each will borrow from the standards of culture to help create our lives, but when we do this excessively-as if we had no other choice-we are essentially subliminally telling ourselves (and others) we dont have a clue who we are yet-and not really that interested in finding out!
