When it comes to being accepted into the Kingdom of God, nothing - TopicsExpress

When it comes to being accepted into the Kingdom of God, nothing makes us worthy. It is only because Christ is worthy that we are accepted by God when we decide to make Him our Lord(one who has legal right and authority over all aspects of our lives). What must happen when we make Jesus our Lord? We must repent and turn from sin. What is sin? The transgretion of God`s law (10 commandments). To truly repent means to look at sin as God does and express a heart felt remorse for sinning against God, apologizing to God and making a commitment to God to stop sinning and progresively be transformed into the image of His son. So, if sin is breaking God`s commandments then to turn from sin is to begin keeping God`s commandments. We don`t earn any points for keeping them, we position ourselves to recieve the fulness of God`s grace and infilling of His Spirit. We position ourselves to recieve His free gift. If we say we repent yet knowingly and willingly reject God`s commandments then we haven`t really repented of breaking God`s commandments, we have just indulged in some meaningless lip service. It`s clear that repentence is at the foundation of salvation, no repentance, no forgiveness, no salvation. That being the case then developing a desire to keep God`s commandments then becomes a foundational building block of salvation. Of coarse without Jesus as the foundation stone that all else is built on, then all else would be meaningless. God`s grace provides time and room for continual repentance as we learn and grow in knowledge and conform to His truths. God`s mercy and grace even provides repentance from rebellion against His commandments. But if we persist in rebelling against Him we reject His provision of mercy and grace. But He will still provide the rebellious soul with one thing in the judgement..... Justice!! Myself, I will choose mercy over justice any day. The writer of Hebrews says, Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, (Wilfull sin is rebellion), Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Just to be clear, adversaries are those who are opposed to God and/or His laws. Paul says in Gal 2:17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. Gal 2:18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. Gal 2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. Paul says that if we continue to pratice the things we have been forgiven of or go back to them, then we make ourselves transgressors in need of repentance and forgiveness again. Then he says that through the law, that is, through keeping the law I am dead to the negative effects that come from transgressing the law and am able to live fully for God. Of coarse there will always be things we need to repent of but wilfull rebellion or rejection of Gods commandments should always be top priority. The Holy Spirit inspired Word of God must always prevail over traditions and opinions of men, no matter how popular they may be. God does not expect perfect results from broken, imperfect people. He expects us to progressively develop a desire to obey Him in all things, especially His 10 commandments that He gave us for our good because He is good. Praise God in Jesus` name, amen
