When my ex husband told me he wanted a divorce, when my daughter was not even a year, I vowed that I would not take it out on her. I vowed that I would never let my relationship with her father get between her relationship with her father. I vowed never to be self destructive and use abusive language toward him or myself in front of her. I vowed to keep her innocence innocent, so that harsh words were never to be seen or heard by her. I vowed to speak with positive words when speaking about her father in front of her. I vowed to encourage her relationship with her father to be a loving and connected one. I vowed to always be silent if I cant find anything positive to say about her father. So far, 13 years later, she is level headed, calm, rational and understands that not all parents are vindictive and revengeful.
