When my family and I go to a restaurant, we should not be forced - TopicsExpress

When my family and I go to a restaurant, we should not be forced to tip the servers. The owners of the establishment should pay their employees fair wages so that they do not rely on tips as their main source of pay. If they are paid like all other employees, and they go above and beyond their job description, then they deserve a tip from the restaurants patrons. I should not feel obligated to tip the server, especially when the service is horrible. If I owned a restaurant, I would pay my employees enough so that they would not have to worry about lack of tips from customers. When I was a senior in high school, I worked at Scotts Drive In. While working there, my hourly wage was more than minimum wage and I also received tips from customers when I would deliver their food to their vehicles. On some nights I would bring home almost $100 in tips. I never expected them to tip me and I was always very appreciative. I would work even harder and be even more polite to customers from that moment on. From not having to rely on tips I was always more friendly and more of an efficient employee.
