When our doctor called and said he wanted me to move into the hospital at 22 weeks gestation I was not prepared. We knew this was the plan, but it was earlier than anticipated because of the developing complications. Ben wasnt due until the end of May - four months away. I would need to live at the hospital until he arrived, getting up only for a shower and a brief wheelchair ride each day. Little did I imagine that he would come just a few days later. Ten years ago today, Ben. I cried the entire ride downtown, leaving your big brother and sister behind to move into the hospital in hopes of helping you have a fighting chance. Its been an extraordinary journey.
