When people bemoan the absence of our late great writers and cultural leaders and slip their fingers into the careworn, dogeared pages to conjure their words awake again I always say yes, yes, call their names, pay homage - but also say - open the window, open the door, pass the mirror on your way out, get into the air, under the broad sky and go down the corner to hear our great writers and cultural leaders (of which you may be one) testify to the time and the skins were in - continuum, us - be fed by the roots, but dont forget the trunk and the branches and the leaves and the fruits sweet ripe pop at the end. Happy Birthday to one of my favorite writers, cultural leaders, provocateurs and conjurers, Lorenzo HerrerayLozano. Whether Im shouting in witness, fussing in disagreement, or slowly unwrapping the words he writes, I am only grateful for his authorship of now.
