When people respond to worry as if it is some dysfunction, I think it shows a profound lack of empathy. Of course, some people are constant worriers in the midst of mostly trouble-free lives, and for them its a kind of emotional default setting. Oftentimes, though, its the appropriate response to a slow-moving threat or impending consequence, and worry is just a kind of focus, a single-mindedness born of care, and a concern that, this time, things have a better than even chance of not turning out well.
