When questions are answered.....45 minutes to go and clinging on to the only thing i and others know and recognise as hope, the dream was turning into another nightmare. 1-0 down at half time and lucky to be that way and the usual negative thoughts about this current Celtic team I have known since they were all BHOYS and the all too familiar question of how much they care for the club, those around them and mostly themselves as the chips were down and have been for two and a half years. I like the word humble as it is a great lesson in learning, and I am here in this time and place willing to be educated amid the toughest of battles, struggling daily again with the painful education yet again of losing something and someone that is dearly loved.Among too many smiling down from above 7 would have been part of the team talk at half-time, as spirits watching over their friends, always within their hearts, having loved the game, the banter, and the unity that can be found in we and not i as a team, when as the sailor says "friends go into battle together as soldiers". Life the greatest game of all can be turned around so quickly, and praying through the break for what only i can deem as the right reasons, i held my breath as the friends re-entered the arena against one of the finest warriors of all time Tralee Dynamos. I missed the game in the last couple of years, but could not face it without my greatest ally, and our travels in what was fondly called "the gig rig" and it was fitting that Mikey Daly who put us on the road is part of the new renaissance. I watched an illusion that brought me back to reality as one question about legacy was answered. John Doyle left an abundance of spirit, a never say die attitude, of truth and resilience, a friend and a soldier, that was and is a gift always to the green and white, and the lives that it has touched and will always touch, as the story of a legend will transcend this time and this place. Perfection is hard to attain but the second half of this Castle Bar cup final belonged to the family and friends of a true warrior. Bhoys to men, all grown up, having learned from winning and losing, my questions and their questions answered by endeavour, honesty and unity, and again the right reasons.Three absolutely stunning goals, never give up, hope and unity bore testament to what so quickly becomes history as Celtic united lifted the cup and the new and rightful owner of the armband paid tribute and brought a tear to the toughest of warriors that battled outside and inside the game, that is soccer and life. To win and to lose, to find balance that all the greatest players have, emotion, being in the right time and the right place, i, you and we have learned. We have learned from one of the greatest of all time, in our world, to fight our own corner, to win our own battles, to keep going until the 90th minute, no matter how much it hurts as pain seems to take over. To a man i salute the perfection of last nights team performance, erasing questions of doubt and care, that i as a mere mortal have no right to ask, as evolution prevails always over revolution. To all involved in the family that is Killarney Celtic, top of the Compassion League over the past two and a half years, as you prayed, looked after and loved one of your own, when give to receive is the greatest lesson we may learn. As our friend and soldier Doyler is always with us, shining a light when all seems lost, guiding the way in the darkness, with the message of hope that John left at his wake, " me, simply, i just wanted to do the best I could as often as I could, not for myself but for everyone". I stand humbled......but could land to the Failte shortly. 15~08~2013
