When researching business on The Better Business Bureaus - TopicsExpress

When researching business on The Better Business Bureaus webpage...it is consumer BEWARE. UNLESS you read the actual complaints and resolutions. Take for instance as I was researching LOCAL contractors....one in particular had 3 recent complaints..... and an A+ rating, so I researched to find out HOW? The complaint resolution statement clearly stated that he was NOT satisfied at all by the work, or the failed answers, the BBB was unable to resolve it and the consumer was left to pay for damages out of pocket, so THAT is why they the contractor kept his A rating!!!! So friends please do NOT rely on the BBBs rating. REALLY READ THE INFO ....the rating is totally misleading and to me not too much short of false advertising!!!! HERE IS THE EXAMPLE----> (names are left out & no it is not my home.....lol....mine was even worse UGH!) Complaint: We are still experiencing issues with our bathroom built by this contractor in 2009. Consistently each season change we have had issues from the toilet water being hot to pipes freezing and never being able to use our new bathroom. We have called an called and never get a return call. ******* ****** the owner has shown up and claimed to Fix the problem only to have the same issue happen....frozen non usable bathroom. Two weeks ago we finally got a hold of him and he promised to come on November 16th and he said if not then he would be at our house on November 23rd for sure........he never showed or called us to say he was not coming or that he would be delayed. We are sick of sitting at home waiting for someone who never shows...we are tired of not having a usable bathroom....we are stressed - anxiety ridden and angry. We should not have to beg to get the problems corrected. We want satisfaction and expect to be treated with more respect....CALL US....Communicate with us, have respect for a customer who paid your company over 17.000 dollars for a new master bedroom an bathroom addition....so far the only room we can use is the bedroom. We want someone who understands the plumbing issues to completely rebuild this bathroom and make it usable year round as this is our only residence an we live in it year round. Your failure to respect and communicate with us has only caused more anguish, anger and dissatisfaction with your company and you. Desired Settlement: Estimate of a complete rebuild of our bathroom by another contractor NOT (XXXXX) contracting. Business Response: Mr. ****** left a voice mail for BBB on 12/24 stating that he will be in contact with the consumer to resolve the complaint. He also stated that the consumer had requested that plumbing be run on the outside of the wall, and consumer was advised not to do so, but requested it be done that way anyway. Consumer Response: Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *******, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. As for Mr. ****** contacting us...it is January 9th and we have not received a phone call....we are also not satisfied that he states putting the pipes on the outside was our idea. It was made clear to us on the inspection that the joint between the outside wall and the roof was not insulated and enclosed properly causing a wind draft which continually freezes the pipes. We also were not in agreement to have the pipes run up through the floor instead of through the wall of the bathroom. We are looking to have this matter resolved completely at the builders expense. We spent $17,000.00 dollars and are still having to come up with ways to LIVE in our home with continuous issues with plumbing and the lack of communication from Mr. ****** is unacceptable. Regards, ******* **** Business Response: BBB spoke with business and he stated that his next solution is to remove the siding and install insulation board with some insulating value to try to alleviate the draft. Due to the weather conditions at this point and the cold temperatures, the siding will crack if removed. So at this point we need to wait for warmer temperatures, at least 25 to 30 degrees. He stated he will contact you. BBBs Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
