When ridden back to back, the ZX-14R literally made the ’Busa - TopicsExpress

When ridden back to back, the ZX-14R literally made the ’Busa feel slow. A bold statement perhaps, but unfortunately for Hayabusa fans, that’s the reality. Although the ZX-14R comes in slightly heavier than the model it replaces, it has an uncanny ability to “lighten up” the moment it pulls away. This isn’t attributed to its freight train torque curve either, but a combination of just right ergonomics (the sensation from the old model of piloting a personal watercraft is gone), advanced electronics and a refined and sophisticated overall feel. On the flip side, the Hayabusa suddenly feels dated, sloppy and, well, a bit down on power. Prior to the new ZX-14R those adjectives were never once uttered when describing the Suzuki. But the common gasps of “wow,” “holy shit” and “incredible” after a first ride have all been transferred to the Kawasaki, leaving the ’Busa in a state of bewilderment.
