When she was a puppy, Susie was beaten, set on fire, and left for - TopicsExpress

When she was a puppy, Susie was beaten, set on fire, and left for dead in a park. Saved by a Good Samaritan, she was treated at the Guilford County Animal Shelter [OFFICIAL] in Greensboro, NC, where she was eventually adopted by Donna Lawrence. Not only did Donna and Susie go on to become a therapy dog team, but Susie inspired Donna to campaign for a law increasing penalties for animal abuse and cruelty in North Carolina. The law, known as Susies Law, passed, and a film called Susies Hope was made about Susie, Donna, and the law. Night before last, Susie was named American Humane Association Hero Dog of the Year for 2014 at an award ceremony in Beverly Hills! Congratulations, Susie and Donna! #shelterpetlove
