When the leafless winter season returns I once again head out in - TopicsExpress

When the leafless winter season returns I once again head out in search of old rail lines. The bare trees and light coatings of snow make both finding and photographing easier. I had meant to poke around the north end of the former Lorain and West Virginia row last year in the Sheffield Village (Ohio) area but never made it up there. Also, if this topic has been covered here before let me know as Im a relative newcomer to this page. Ill post whats probably the 3 most interesting points in that area, the Black River bridge and a two track section. The last trains ran here in the late 60s (N&W at that time) after the line was severed by a washout with final abandonment coming in 1979. Much of this once 25 mile line that connected Wellington with Lorain is intact with the southerly 6 miles or so operated by a tourist railroad. This northern section is heavily overgrown in most spots making photos difficult. The first two views are the Black River bridge, the last view is looking west from, if I remember, W. Ridge Rd.
