When the then Opposition was raising allegations against Julia Gillard from 20 years prior, their foaming, hysterical, spittle flecked outrage was palpable. Whenever new, usually recycled, information or allegations came to light, answers were demanded, by Abbott, Bishop and Pyne particularly, in vein popping red faced screeching anger. This supposedly called into question her integrity, her honesty, her suitability for high office. On two occasions, she stood in front of the media and answered questions until they had no more. She surprised us and the journalists who should have been there were not. She still has questions to answer!!!, they cried. When they got into government, the Royal Commision Into Getting Gillard was called. No new evidence has been raised, no new allegations made. Just slightly different words, variations on the theme. She still has questions to answer, says the government cheersquad. Then we come to Slpper/ Ashby....a case that has ALWAYS reeked of corruption, dishonest and conspiracy to bring down a government. Although little new evidence came to light for those who had read the excellent Ashbygate series on Independent Australia, the allegations on 60 Minutes of involvement by senior members of the government were given a new credibility for those who still trust the MSM to actually report the news. 2 years late, but better late than never... Now the very same people who demanded answers from Julia Gillard say they had no SPECIFIC knowledge of events. Abbott says its been through the courts and is done, even though NONE of the allegations against members of his government or their staff have been even questioned. Brough says he commissioned Ashby to commit the theft of Slippers diary, but he has nothing to answer for because HE suspected a crime had been committed?! Pyne says sometimes people misunderstand conversations when offers are made. Nothing to see here folks.... There are MANY questions that need to be answered. There are MANY aspects of this which point directly to the whole affair being a deliberate attempt to bring down the democratically formed government of the day. This is very high on the list of reprehensible, corrupt and dishonest activities this government undertook whilst in opposition. Not the worst, but certainly indicative of the lengths they are willing to go to in their quest to achieve and maintain the power they believe is their God given right. They continue, through their refusal to explain or justify or even admit to their dubious, (illegal? corrupt? treasonous?) activities, to show just how unfit for high office they are. Perpetually Enraged!
