When these pretty little spoons were made the flamboyant Prince Regent was now King George IV. The first horse drawn Omnibus appeared on the streets of London, George Stephensons Locomotive 1 started the first public trains at The Stockton & Darlington Railway. In London The silver maker James Beebe had set up his Flatware (cutlery)Silver company in 1811 and in 1823 he made this spoon. In Pembrokeshire, Haverfordwest was a thriving county Town but we were not immune to the Financial Crash of 1823 and we lost The Pembrokeshire Bank which went bankrupt sent our local community into a spin. Who knows the journey these spoons have made and whose hands have held them? They were being sold again this month and will now become a piece of treasured jewellery.and hopefully last another 200 years!
