When they walk through the door to the restaurant, they head - TopicsExpress

When they walk through the door to the restaurant, they head straight to the bar, not even checking with the waitress. The bartenders know what beer they want, even what shots they will drink first. They are young, mid-twenties, brash, confident, full of life and testosterone. They train together, live together, party together and soon, some may die together. Chiseled pecs and bulging biceps, tight shirts, runners legs, todays true athletes. Crisp lines and dark ink on drum tight skin, tattoos not faded with age. The are the warrior class of the 21st century. They could have fought with Ramses, marched with Alexander or Julius Caesar, swept the steeps or the highland hills, scouted with Washington, been shoulder to shoulder with Jackson or braved the redoubt at Vicksburg with Grant, charged the beach at Normandy or held the road to Seoul. Like these soldiers of the past, they have the confidence and the will to win. They are warriors who know that at this moment in time, they are the best. After the missiles, bombs and artillery shells, they are the ones that will go in, bridge by bridge. city by city, block by block. Why would they do it? NO one forced them, it cant be the pay. No, I think it is the drive and desire to be a part of an elite team, a unit that can coast of being the best. Who are they? They are America. From Boston to Baton Rouge, from Chicago to San Juan. Many around me have expressed fear of what the coming war and its outcome will be. Though I fear for the safety of the young men that I have met and come to know and care about, I have no doubt as the the result of the ensuing conflict. For I have come to know the best, the United States Army Rangers.
