When those times of staleness and barrenness come, when reading the Word and worship doesn’t seem to move our heart, we search out our relationship with the Lord, and we stay with it because the sense of His presence on our heart will return. The first time or two He withdrew from me, it was so strange! I thought, “I don’t know if I like this anymore.” Then the Lord’s sweetness came back, and I said, “Whoa! What was all that about? Lord, I do not like that feeling!” I know that most of you have had that feeling a time or two, but I want to tell you, having stayed with it for some years, that sense of His presence will return if you stay with it, if you press into the Lord through His Word, through worship, and through obedience.
