When we first moved to Lawton our house hold consisted of myself, Rosa, Nikki and Donnie (her husband) and Rosas son Brett. We found a house that would fit us all. At this point and time None of us had jobs. Sister and I began looking right away and it didnt take long before we found something that would hold us until we found what we were looking for. We both worked at a call center and let me tell you I will never do that again. That job just is not for me. We worked there long enough to get our rent paid. We worked with a young girl who said they were hiring where she worked. So sister and I went to put in applications. It was at a resturant, so sister told me that if she didnt get hired she wouldnt be upset. I hoped that would be the case. I have spent pretty much my whole working life in food. I also put my application in at the walmart closest to our house. To be totally honest when I was filling out the application I forgot some of the information I needed so I saved what I had and I figured I would just go back later and finish up. It didnt take very long for the resturant to call for interviews. We were both schedualed on the same day fifteen minutes apart. I wasnt nervouse I liked to interview. I felt my interview went very well, she was going to turn my application over to the manager who would call for a second interview. I felt good. I wished sister good luck and waited in the car for her to finish. When she came back to the car I asked her how it went, she said not as good as yours but they did ask me to go ahead and get my food license. I froze, really now. She said but they didnt say anything about giving my application to the manager. So I helped her out and told her that is because they have no intention of giving me a second interview. If they were interested they would have told me to go ahead and get my food license. Now she looked shocked. I told her it just wasnt ment to be. I said maybe God wants me else where. So secretly I pouted for about a week or so and then one day Wal-Mart calls. I have an interview. Which is odd because I forgot to finish filling out that application. But whose to look a gift horse in the mouth right. I went to the interview and I got the job. Kind of srange, sister working in food and me, not. Now when they hired me they explained all of my hours. I applied for full time but when they offered the job it was only part time. I just wanted to work. Part-time ment a maximum of 38 hrs and a minimum of 28. You got two days off a week, never working over 40 hrs. They gave you three breaks, one fifteen minute break two hours after you start, then two hours after that is a one hour lunch break, then two hours after your lunch break was your last 15 minute break, two hours after that it was time to go home. I was doing a happy dance on the inside because 38 hours is only half of what I was use to working in one week of most of my working caree. I looked up and said did you think I needed a break? LOL I figured this job really wouldnt last because I wont know what to do with all of the extra time. I thought there was a chance I could go crazy. Well, it would do for the time being. Turns out I liked working there, I started out in the deli and after two or three months I was allowed to trasfer to the bakery. Of course in the transfer I lost 30 cents an hour, but I wanted to learn how to decorate cakes. So that is what I did. Nikki worked at Arbys for a while and Donnie worked at Sears. Now even with all of us working we found it really hard to pay the rent for that huge house. Nikki got really sick and Donnies appendix almost burst. Things just got a little to hard. So there came a point when we had to give up the big house and look for something smaller. We all decided to split up until we could find something. Sister had made lots of friends at her job and Nikki and Donnie had friends that lived there in Lawton. I however didnt have anywhere to go. But Donnie had asked his parents if we could stay with them until we found something. So we drove from Apache to Lawton every time I had to work. Sometimes we would cut it so close on gas that the kids would sit in the car in the parking lot for eight hours until I got off of work. They made sure I made it to work and had a place to go in the evening. By Christmas time we had found a new place to live. Thanks need to go to Donnies parents. They gave the kids the money as a Christmas gift. They were really good people. Very understanding. When we got the new place we all reunited. It was only a three bedroom but Brett at the time had plans to move back to Shawnee. I was just glad I had my sister back. I missed my sister time, she was always so busy with work and her new friends. I will admit that sometimes I got a little jelouse. Everybody would go to visit their friends and it would be just me and Zeek ( my new grandpuppy). There were even times when he would leave me just to go and snuggle under moms blanket in her bedroom. poo!
