When we get stuck with the bible, we become dependent on it. We become so engrossed in splitting hair interpreting it. We become judgmental of others. We even think that we are enforcers of the commandments. And we get blinded by it. We need to know truth direct from its source in the first person by experiencing it and not just entertain ourselves with what happened in the past and the inspirational messages we read. It does nothing to us except to entertain us or probably give us a respite from our worries and problems but only momentarily. So we come back again to listen to the same old sermon or preaching, and nothing really changes much. We are still the same weak and self centered person pretending to know better. The bible is being used to prevent people from being truly free. This is how religion uses the bible. Religion likes to impose for the purpose of self preservation. Family solidarity is something desirable for instance but if we impose our will on others in the name of family solidarity, it is already a dictate of the instinct of self preservation. We are interfering with nature in an unnatural way. What we need to do is not impose but to understand and find the root cause. We need to see the larger picture. For instance, we constantly hear priests talk about marriage and focus on family solidarity but at the same time condemn people without understanding what they go through in life. I heard a priest who likes to focus on faithfulness without understanding that it is merely a by product of many factors. These priests think in black and white. Easy for them to say, be faithful. These priests seem to ignore the causes that lead to family break ups and preach about being faithful as if he were trying to impose it on people. This is the problem with religion. It likes to impose. Christ was a healer. He looks at the causes and goes to the root cause of these problems. When you hear a priest tell you to be faithful, be sure that he is just mouthing words he does not understand. This is because he does not mingle with the people and understand the causes of their problems. He likes to impose the law and make pompous declarations like "be faithful." They should change their antiquated ways because they create the kind of culture that leads to the destruction of the consciousness of Christ. They should be more familiar with the practical application of cause and effect instead of trying to manipulate the minds of people and force them to do things by dictating upon them what to do. They should instead recognize this natural freedom of people who are going through their unique life experiences which goes into the development of their conscious existence. Instead of judging and condescending, priests can become more scientific in their approach and seek to understand the causes of human behavior. Instead of saying be faithful, priests should be aware of the history of human behavior and the culture that gives rise to it. When you hear these preachers and priests say, be faithful, be sure that he is lazy and is not really thinking. Just like the wafer he transforms into the lifeless body of Christ in his mind.
