When we hear/read our spokespeople talk/write about our current - TopicsExpress

When we hear/read our spokespeople talk/write about our current community problems, it is often shaped by the knowledge that has been handed down to us by the mainstream status quo. We have not been able to exit from these types of conversations because our leaders are asked to react to what the Government of the day believes are important to us, ie they attempt to manage the Muslim community. Its kind of like them delivering individual Muslim Community Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy to our leaders where our leaders are asked to change their existing unhelpful or unhealthy thinking habits, feelings and behaviours that the Government believes are maladaptive. And then it gets better because then the leaders run the Muslim Community group therapy programs where we are then forced to have conversations amongst ourselves about radicalisation, extremism, terrorism, youth anger, etc but we do so through their eyes, and not that of our own. How long do we want to be managed for? When will we exit those conversations in order that we find our own voices, distanced from theirs? #letschangetheconversation
