“When we received notification from SABC1 to commission - TopicsExpress

“When we received notification from SABC1 to commission Skeem Saam 3 as a daily youth drama, I felt absolute shock, fear and excitement all in one. This was a very brave and audacious decision from the channel. While this was good news indeed, I found myself asking if we were ready. Was it the right time? And then I remembered just how much the series had already achieved and given us in audience performance, revenue, popularity. It certainly put itself in the game. I began to see this as another, defining moment and opportunity to once again allow the series to set trends, and further entrench itself in the game. I am still nervous and excited for our daily premier and can’t wait to see how the series does,” says Sane Zondi, commissioning editor for SABC Education Youth & Tweens Development. SABC1 programme manager, Clara Nzima, explains how and why the channel decided to make Skeem Saam 3 a daily youth drama: “SABC1 is ‘The Official-Story- teller’, the number one channel in the country. For SABC1 bringing back Skeem Saam as a daily is our response to audiences who have been calling for more of this ground-breaking drama. We have rendered the required resources and support to the team of Skeem Saam, we are certainly hopeful it will yield the expected results.” Skeem Saam airs from Monday, 14 July at 18:30 on SABC1. It will air Mondays to Fridays. Tagged Publications:
