When we started this journey I didnt think I could cope but then I met children fighting cancer, their braveness, their determination, their spirit: I am in awe!! The Petes and the Emmas of this world are so very inspiring. Of course behind every child is as brave parent/sibling enduring a very long storm, you can not comprehend this journey until you walk it, like child birth you have no idea how painful its gonna be until your in labour then there are people like you who have held me up, given me courage to take another step. Maddi is the star in all of this, she has spunk, she has determination and she has the most amazing strength, a very wise young lady for her tender age of 3. Most whom meet her would not say she was 3, her speech, her understanding of her surroundings and her wit is far beyond her years. Maddi has endured a lot, lots of chemo, lots of needles, lots of anasthetic but still she skips around clinic singing Taylor Swift without a care in the world. I know that Maddi will beat this beast but for now I thank you for supporting us in the fight. I witnessed and was so pleased to be apart of a miracle on Saturday, Maddis market came together in a blink of an eye, the sun shone, the people came and I walked around in a sheer daze, moments of total amazement that this was all for our Maddi. The organising, the time, the money spent on bringing this all together. I desperately wanted to thank you all personally but words escaped me and tears took over on many occasions. I spent a few moments at my car, so very overwelmed. There are so many I want to thank and if I miss you, I apologise but it is because there are so many. Firstly of course Laura who got the ball rolling and worked herself to exhaustion, my very special Scottish flower I love you dearly and I can never thank you enough. Katrina for assisting in baking, organising, messagining, collecting/delivering, one of my besties who through this all has held me up and kept me going. Leanne and Scott Little, Scott painted the signs which were around West Auckland, Leanne had lots of donations from the community for a bric a brac stall - 100% of this came to Maddi, The beautiful people at The western Leader for advertsing the market, for doing a spread on our girl and Melanie for coming to and taking pictures. Alan from Barfoots who did an incrediable job with his lovely wife, Raewyn and girl power Emily on the sausage sizzle all funds from this also coming directly to Maddi, face painters, crafts and boy you crafters are wickedly talented. I recieved cash donations from Barfoots Te Atatu, Barnard Plumbing and Kaurilands Superette, it just blew me away. The amazing Nykie from Mistral photgraphy who captured the raw Maddi, Kelston Digital Photos for printing this picture that was proudly hung in the doorway to the market. All that donated items to sell on the auctions (Southhead Golf club, Planet cycles, Hannah Lorien-king, Amanda 4 Flowerz, Petite Nails, Taffys kids parties, Nourish me, Me & Mrs Jones, Balance living centre, Shannon, Elaine & Joe, Karen Southey, Angela Martin, Kristi Spiers, Rhythm & steps dance, Flossy coats), Of course you who bidded, thank you, the auctions raised $1030 - WOW!! I especially loved the upside down doll my bestie of 27 years hand made, Kirsty your a talented (nearly 40) honey bun, my Brother in law Jono Giles for directing traffic, helping on the stall and helping all. My sister in law, Sarah Giles who was an A1 seller on the Maddi table, of course all who came and brought something, we did not expect the turn out we had but boy it rocked. Andrea, Daryn, Mikayla and Georgia for helping with the clean up and to Greg who under the weather collected/delivered tables, brought BBQ, got Ice, the list goes on and on! Last but not least my Dad who at 75 directed traffic, helped stall holders and not once complained with my demanding demure, I love you Dad! What I loved the most was all the comments from you, telling me just how amazing Maddi is, this makes me so very proud. I so wished my Mother could be here to see it, she would have loved it, although I do believe she was there, she sure came through with the weather. My gratitude and this experence has made me see life in a different light. I once again thank you ALL so very much you are all helping me and mine fight this battle. You are all champions. Of course I could not get through each day without Steve - we are a great team and woo betide anyone who gets in Mumma and Poppa bears way, to our son Josh (Maddi calls him her bestest brother), you are an incrediable boy who has endured loosing your special Nan, your Poppa Eric and then your sister being diagnosed with leukaemia and having to put your beloved cat (Lightning) down on your birthday due to feline Leukaemia, no child should have to learn life can be so very cruel but you have taken it all on the chin and been a very mature young man who at times has helped me through some very dark days.
