When we were children and riding in the car with daddy, Lynn, - TopicsExpress

When we were children and riding in the car with daddy, Lynn, Raymond and I were taught to name trees by looking at their leaves. And now that I am driving daddy, he is still asking me to name the trees that we see. Thank goodness I am able to name most of them. He told me this morning that we have two different kinds of cotton trees in Nassau -- the great big silk cotton tree with the huge trunk and exposed roots like those on Market Street and the street opposite Purity Bakery, and the smaller cotton trees that resemble a pea tree. At certain times of the year, you would see a fluffy, soft fuzz ball surrounding a single seed blowing around in the wind, and if left untouched and conditions are right, could germinate and spring.
