When we were ready to leave Bangsar at 9pm last night, Sunday 4th - TopicsExpress

When we were ready to leave Bangsar at 9pm last night, Sunday 4th January, there were only 3 volunteers outside my house waiting for me ... Hijaz Pahron to drive the truck, Hazri Zainuddin, the Hilux, and Ahnafrudin Jalaludin, the MyVi. Hijaz was worried in case we didnt have enough volunteers but I was well-rested and felt physically fit to handle multiple tasks, provided we had just a few more volunteers. We need not have worried after all. We had a total of 35 volunteers last night. A pleasant surprise indeed for a Sunday night with no CSR or student group slotted in. I even had time to listen to a few of our recipients who wanted to share their stories with me. Some of them have gone through so much hardship right from childhood. There are those who never went to school yet have managed to fight the odds to come out strong. The scars will never be completely erased for sure but the bitterness have lessened, thanks to the ongoing effort and commitment from all our volunteers. Feedback such as what I received last night was totally unexpected. They only wanted to communicate their gratitude but I didnt know how to react to that. It felt odd. You see, the ongoing support we provide is not from me alone. Without all our volunteers and supporters, I cannot do much. Together we have been able to give them a reliable base to turn to, like going home to a family, hanging around a kitchen, talking and feeling wanted, said one of them. Such a touching description! 😢 For the stronger ones, they then move on to better opportunities in life. For the rest, it may take longer.
