When writing a novel, think of each chapter as an individual reel - TopicsExpress

When writing a novel, think of each chapter as an individual reel that gradually pulls the reader deeper and deeper into the story. With each reel, the reader becomes more immersed and attached to the plot and characters. Keeping this in mind, be sure that you end each chapter with enough intrigue so the reader will want to turn the page. This rule also applies to starting off the novel; you have to pull the reader in almost immediately so they will be compelled. - Rob
