When you thank God for what youve labeled a blessing but it clearly goes against His character, youre basically thanking Him for giving you the free will to accept the things that the world offered you which gratified your flesh. By catering to the flesh and ignoring your spirit, you empower it to keep the spirit within you subdued and in a frail and weakened state. True strength lies in denying yourself the things of the world and making sound moral decisions. If you desire to grow spiritually, youre going to have to start saying NO to opportunities that satan lays at your feet; he can only tempt a desire thats already embedded in you, but you ultimately decide how you choose to respond. Likewise, you have to nourish and strengthen your spirit by spending time in Gods word.
