When you think of The People do you think of Americans (or your own native land for the couple of non-Americans) or do you think of all the people? Ive had some conversations about distractedness in culture, curiosity, economics etc. of late and there is often a weird moment of disconnect when I realize that the person Im talking to is only talking about Americans, and they realize that Im not. If theres a conversation youre involved in talking about jobs, health, education, pollution, politics, technology, environment, etc. and no specific place is mentioned, is your default setting national? I think my own bias has me thinking of urban people when I think of people much more than rural but its not country specific at all unless thats already been defined. And sometimes, like when people are complaining about jobs overseas, not even then.
