When your pet has an urgent medical problem or emergency, we are - TopicsExpress

When your pet has an urgent medical problem or emergency, we are here to help 358 days a year- all day Monday through Saturday and 1-6 pm on Sundays. We take emergency calls for our established patients until 10 pm those days as well. In order to spend irreplaceable time with our families, on the 7 major holidays each year, and from 10 pm-7:00 am daily, we refer emergencies to either The Burleson Animal Emergency Clinic, I-20 Animal Hospital in Weatherford, or the Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas in Grapevine. This change was implemented over 2 years ago before we bought the practice. While we used to see emergencies all night long, we found that during the night, we cannot equal the quality of care that we strive to deliver during the day. It is also unfair to our patients and our families who expect us to be available and at our best for them the next day. We realize that this is an inconvenience in the rare case you have an emergency outside of our available hours. It is important to note that there are no veterinary practices in Granbury, Hood County, or the surrounding area that have a 24 hour a day staff. Veterinarians that are on call all night may be able to see your pet after hours, but then they will typically either have to treat them and send them back home, treat them and then leave them unattended until the next day, or transfer them to an Emergency Clinic for continued care. We have many patients whose lives have been saved by having skilled around the clock care- even major surgery during the night- at one of our trusted Emergency Practices. Our long term goal is to offer 24 hour care here in Hood County and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately, the local demographics do not support a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week small animal veterinary hospital at this time. We will continue to provide the level of care you have come to expect and trust until that time. Thank you for your understanding. Dr. Scott McCall, Dr. Scott Myers, and Dr. Kathleen Wallace
