When youre walking down a dark tunnel, a flashlight comes in very handy. When youre driving down a dark road at night, the headlights on your car help you see where to drive. But that flashlight and headlight dont reach far enough to show you whats ahead 100 miles in the distance. They are intended to help you take the next few steps -- to help you see just far enough ahead to stay on track. Thats exactly why King David wrote, Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path (Psalms 119:105). The Bible may not answer exact specifics you need to know today, but it will keep you right on track spiritually and morally. It will not tell you exactly how to resolve a bad relationship, a soured business deal, or hurt feelings, but the power of the Word of God will be released in you, to guide you and direct you as you choose to walk in the principles of walking in forgiveness, choosing to speak the truth in love, to submit one to another, etc. As Gods Word shines its powerful truth into these general areas that affect each of us, we will become convicted of our behavior, our wrong attitudes, wrong choices, impure motives, and it will bring us to a logical conclusion of what is right and wrong in the decisions we need to make. So TAKE THE TIME to meditate on the Word and allow its power and truths to penetrate your mind until, finally, you begin to think Gods thoughts about the situations youre facing today. When youre thinking the way GOD thinks, youll make the right decisions and choices for your life.
