"Where did I get my purple shirt from Mommy?" Liam asked me this the other morning. I explained, "you got it from the Alzheimers walk last year." The conversation went on from there. He asked many many questions, what is alzheimers, if we walk can they fix Grandma Brick... etc. I had to try very hard to be honest with him and give simple direct answers while keeping the tears from working their way down my face. At the end of the conversation, when all questions were answered to the best of my ability Liam said he wants to walk again, to help find the cure... because someday his Mommy, Aunties, Grandma, Sister and, even he, could have Alzheimers. My four year old son wants to support this cause, and he cannot even comprehend the full scope of what this disease is and what it does. Please think about supporting Liam, Emma Carlos E. Maldonado and I this year so future generations of parents will not need to answer these questions.
