Featured Dish of the Day: Dumplings Dumplings are cooked balls of dough that may include meat, fish, vegetables, or sweets as their filling. They may be booked by boiling, steaming, simmering, frying, or baking. Dumplings are really diverse; all cuisines around the world has their own version of dumplings. Chinese dumplings are referred to as Jiaozi. Jiaozi are commonly eaten across Eastern, Central, and Western Asia. The filling typically consists of a ground meat and/or vegetable and wrapped into a thinly rolled piece of dough, which is sealed by pressing the edges together or by crimping. Jiaozi are one of the major foods eaten during the Chinese New Year because they look like golden ingots used for money and the name sounds like the word for the earliest paper money, so serving them is believed to bring prosperity.
