Where do I begin... This weekend, the Safar: Conference for Middle Eastern Dance and Music came and went. Lisa Jordan, Francesca Sabeya Anastasi, we did it! I was blown away by the energy and the magic that happened this weekend. I loved every crazy moment of it. Our faculty was AMAZING! I couldnt have dreamed of everything coming together any better than it did. Yasmina Ramzy, you know how much it meant to us to have you there. You are one of my biggest inspirations and I thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for this dance. Lulu, Ive known about your work for years and was soooooo happy to have this opportunity to work with you and meet you. You are inspiring. David Davidofscandinavia, I had a blast with you this weekend! Your energy and care in everything you do was so amazing to watch. Dr. George Sawa, what can I say. I am so happy and blessed to have met you a few years ago and to have had the chance to work with on a few projects. We were honoured to have you as part of Safar. Your jokes and stories come second only to your beautiful music. James Freeman, what a pleasure meeting you. Thank you for adding a beat to our conference. ;) Our presenters, thank you for your amazing sessions. Rahma Haddad, Lynette Harper, Venus Marilee Nugent, Danielle Pipi Le Alexanderlongstocking, Janelle Bel Isle, Naomi Joy, Amber, Anne Vermeyden, Kim Pechet and Alia Thabit, I am so thrilled to know that we have so much depth in our dance and music community. It is so important for all of us to be educated on all facets of this dance form and music and to think deeper. It only helps us become better. Our competitors, Ashley Kirkham, Carla Naar, Laura Scotten, Lana Gabor, Rahel Bellydance, Nahoko Sugiyama, Aya Tsukada, Alena, Anya, Blue Lotus, Caroline, Delaine, Helwa Dancers, Aida, Mariana, Zahra and Yasmeen, thank you for your hard work and bravery. You gave us quite an exciting night! Our Safar Gala performers, Nath Keo, Nicci Tha Fae Bellydance, Annie-Claude Perreault, Negma Bellydance, Johara Dancers, Mahala Dancers, Danielle H and Vanessa, thank you for an amazing show. Every single one of you brought it!!! Thank you to Ashley Turner for being an amazing stage manager, you rocked it girl. Thank you to our vendors, for bringing your amazing products and offering a wide variety of goods. Thank you to MEDA: The Middle Eastern Dance Association for your presence and thank you Allison Thompson, Leona Planko Finlayson and Tonje Olson for pulling together a fantastic Closing Night Party!!!! Azrakesh, you were on fire. Amazing. Our presenters who graced the stage, thank you along with our participants who also got up there. Thank you to Brendan Lally Photography for capturing the Fri and Sun night events, looking forward to seeing the pics! Last but not least, thank you to our participants.
