Where do I start, I am currently in Naples Florida, I am in the final stages of a transition where I will take over Dr. David Perlmutters Clinic Practice. (He is the author of the NY times best seller Grain Brain, has another book Brain Maker due out in April). I have been blessed with this amazing opportunity. March 2nd, The Perlmutter Health Center becomes the Hughes Center For Functional Medicine. I have a landing page at hughescenternaples, will be updated this coming week as the hours are wrong, the Why Hughes Center is not quite where I want it, BUT, the logo is there, the colors, the feel is there. David and Brodie have one more semester and David will be about done with with 2nd degree in surveying and mapping, in JC, TN, then they will be moving down here with me. Its tough being apart, we all miss each other so much, but we know the time is short, and our reunion will be an amazing time as we finally are all under the same roof and mom is home for dinner every night. No more weekends, no nights, no holidays. We will sell the house in TN and rent a condo for a while in Naples until we see how all this comes together. Sad news, Tucker, our English Bulldog, passed away on November 28th. It was his time. We miss him a ton, but he is in a good place. The days have been busy, Business is something I am learning on the curve as I go. Passed my Written Boards for Functional Medicine, Oral Boards in May. Then I will be Double boarded, Family Medicine and Functional Medicine with an Advanced Fellowship in Functional Medicine. I am also working toward my Masters Degree in Metabolic Nutrition. I have my first public speaking event at a Health Freedom Summit here in Naples on February 21st. Very excited. David, Brodie and I really enjoy Naples, FL. We love the beach, the weather, the feel, the people. We started a search last spring for the place to settle as we knew Brodie would be starting Kindergarten in the fall, and after skiing in Utah last year, hitting the beach this year, we knew it was the beach. We can always fly to the snow and cold! I did research on different beach towns in Florida, areavibe is a great tool. Then I visited the Gulf side during my fellowship training and did not feel it. Then David and I came to Naples Last July and knew. Met some great people and then on my last week here I met David Perlmutter. God had a plan for both of us, things are working out great, and I continue to pray for Gods guidance and wisdom at I make this transition. The ladies bible class from Southern Pines NC still graciously sends cards and I received one last summer and it had a little prayer: I know God has a plan. I pray for direction to follow it, patience to wait on it, and the knowledge to know when it comes. That card sits in front of me everyday. That is the update for now. And I am sorry, no christmas cards this year, between working nights, working on the practice, sleep, time with the boys, it was not meant to be, here are a few pictures from a november family Photo day.
