Where does racist police violence in the US come from? (I) The US is an empire founded by settlers from Europe who had to exterminate Native Americans to take their land, and enslave Africans build capitalism. (II) The ancestors of the people whose blood and sweat this country was built on continue to be oppressed, relegated to the lowest rungs of this capitalist society as colonies inside the US- the US is a prison house of nations. The white supremacist, capitalist ruling class needs these populations to continue to be oppressed to legitimize this settler colonial country, and keep accumulating wealth and power. (III) The state (the government, prisons, courts, police, military) exists to reproduce the capitalist empire, and this means oppressed populations have to be contained at the bottom rungs of society through organized violence. Unless they are contained, these populations have the potential to lead revolution to put an end to white supremacist capitalism. That is why African Americans have the highest rates of incarceration and murder by police. That is why people are killed down south for trying to cross a border that was put in place after the U.S. empire stole the land of their ancestors. That is why Native Americans continue to live in some of the worst poverty and still dont fully control what land they have left. (IV) The police as an armed institution of the state carry out this use of organized violence to make sure oppressed populations are kept terrorized and repressed, to suppress the revolutionary potential of oppressed people in the US. (V) Just to have the right to breathe, there is only one solution: revolution. Via New Communist Party - Liaison Committee
