Where is today’s generation heading? They are clueless about what they want in life, without any passion, with so much of confusion about career and about life. From my recent conversation and trainings, I am at a loss of words as to what could make them serious about their life. Someone says Delhi is a state, someone is confused whether there is a word called, ‘childrens’ or ‘peoples’ for that matter. Some of them have no clue about what is happening in the country. When a topic about Indian education system is given to them to discuss, they go blank and keep mumbling. They are completely unaware of what is the current affairs that’s affecting our country. They want high-salary and IT fascinated jobs but when it comes to skills, they are nowhere. Some of them do not have the courage to even speak up in front of a crowd. Let’s not talk about the communication level of these people. I cannot put together enough words to come to terms about how much they are lagging in it. The engineers are filled with so much of theoretical knowledge that they do not know how does a car engine starts or how does electricity is produced or to execute a simple computer program. As a career counsellor, I have analysed, that more than 80% of the students do not have any idea as to what to choose in their career. They are pushed into the college with the influence of parent’s choice or because of friends. Are we breeding a generation of just lazy and ignorant lot? Where are we failing? What is happening to the generation that is lost between fancied frenzy of technological world and the unbelievable reality? Let’s have a logical discussion.
