Where it all started..... A few days before crufts my fur babies where on their usual walk, Hugo was just plodding along and all of a sudden began to limp, there where no holes in the ground, I didnt see him trip or slip, I cage rested him with pain relief and tlc, he then began to weight bare so we all presumed it wasnt his cruciate as he was on it too soon and was now walking properly. At Crufts we did a little practice run to see how he was and he had a slight skip whilst trotting so I withheld him from the ring and we had a fabulous day watching all the amazing saints in the ring and especially my little girl myrtle who shone! Hugo was his usual gorgeous self and got lots of photos taken and cuddles from people who instantly loved him. The next day we where walking down the road and I could hear a clunking noise and he went totally lame! An emergency call to my vet, we rushed him down and he manipulated his legs, with him being the size of a donkey its extremely hard to diagnose with out sedation and full X-rays but it looks like it is his cruciate :( I rang his breeder who is now one of my closest friends and got lots of advice and she will be coming with us for his referral so its a full informed decision when we are diagnosed and deciding on treatment. I am very lucky to work with dogs every day, I have a wonderful vet and lots of knowledgable people around me. So my boy is very lucky to have such wonderful friends!
