Where to start....... It was a rough lead up to this weekend, first being sick for half the week leading up and still am didnt help. Picked the car up Friday afternoon and straight after had a flat tyre on the trailer, thankfully Dave from Sleeka Spares came to the rescue and had a spare I was able to use. Then came race day, the final round of the G1 Drift series and I was 8th in the championship and hoping for a strong finish. Went out for open prac and car was feeling great. Then about halfway through that I started having issues with a slipping clutch which made me have to completely change the way I entered the ss to keep it biting. It worked but unfortunately made me way to slow and unable to hit a perfect line. Qualifying came around and I did what I could, put down a ok first lap and decided to give a normal entry a go on the 2nd lap but the clutch didnt want to bite and I basically straight lined the ss. My first lap was good enough to slot me into 16th place, keeping me in the top 16 battles for every round this year. This also meant I drew top qualifier which was DriftSquid Jake Jones. Now at 100% it was going to be a tough ask but with the clutch barely holding on it was going to be near impossible. However I went out and gave it all I had, Jake was just too quick and on me the whole time. He also went on to win the day, congrats mate. So after that was all done it was time for extreme entry and I thought I would give it a crack, however the car had other ideas, coming upto the ss and getting ready to get into it, a hose coming off the turbo decided to split and I lost all boost, we attempted a repair but it was no good, attempted a walk around the pits asking anyone and everyone with no luck so that was the day done. But..... there was more, off to grab the tow car and trailer I went and the car has a flat tyre, pumped it up hoping it would be a slow leak to get me home but no, got back into Mallala and it was dead flat again, so changed it and chucked one of the drift rims on there, started driving and it was scrubbing...... so pulled over again and had to change it again to the stockie in the boot. By the time everything was done and we were finally home relaxing it was close to 1am. So overall for the championship, I finished 7th, extremely happy to be well in the top 10 and cant wait to try and improve on that next year. Have to thank all those that have helped me out over the year, I wouldnt have been able to be out there with all of your help, MadAs Photos Old School Kustoms Sleeka Spares Turbo By Garrett Fours N More Automotive Adelaide Turbo Services See you all next year :)
