Wheres the international community now?! Does it operate only to serve Western political interests? To clarify, I am neither pro-Palestine, nor pro-Israel, but any one calling themselves a human being with a sense of morality should listen to this and condemn the extremely disproportionate Israeli retaliation on the Gaza strip. At least 120 people have been killed, many more injured. Majority of them are civilians, among whom many children. The Israeli army has warned the people of Gaza to leave their homes as more bombing will follow. But where should they go? Sleep outside? Israel is a democratic state and by such not only bound by legal treaties obliging her to respect human rights, but by a moral imperative to act responsibly with regards to human lives. As it refuses to do so and since its lobby campaigns and far-reaching political influence prevents Western political leaders to act strongly against this brutality, at least we--the civil societies of Western countries--could and should press the Israeli government to stop this outrageous retaliation immediately.
