Whew! What an afternoon! If youve ever helped out at our monthly Clean-Up Hour, you may know LILY. She is a Whippet who manages the volunteers from her perch on the sign-in table. Well, LILYs mom, Peggy, called me this afternoon in a panic. She had taken LILY for a play date with some other Whippets in a neighborhood off Johnson Ferry Rd. - - - and then LILY vanished! I printed out some Lost Dog posters and rushed over to help. Four of us, walking all through this huge neighborhood, whistling and calling, talking to the mailman, the FedEx man, and every car that drove down the street for roughly 2 1/2 hours. We returned to the friends home to regroup and make plans . . . and found LILY safe and warm inside the house! Shed been there the whole time. We think she sneaked in through the doggy door and went upstairs to the bedrooms. My heart is still pounding, but boy, was this a nice Christmas gift: darling LILY is safe and sound (and probably wondering why her mom is crying)!!
